Yola was born Yolanda Claire Quartey in Bristol in 1983 and is 42 this week.

In 2019, she appeared at the Newport Folk Festival – the one in Rhode Island. Her single, Faraway Look was voted Best American Roots Song and Best American Roots performance in 2020 and she was nominated for Best New Artist. She’s yet to hit the big time here, but she will.
