of the week

The New Jersey-born singer songwriter Dean Friedman is 70 years old this week.

A few weeks ago I played this song at one of my quizzes and someone asked who it was written about, Dean explained, “I wrote it about a lovely young lady I dated when I was just starting out in the music biz, but I used her roommates name to protect the not-so-innocent.”. So now you, sort-of, know.

Dean still tours extensively around and although still best-known in the UK for the number three hit Lucky Stars with the uncredited Denise Marsa, his 1978 album, Well Well Said The Rocking Chair, is still very popular and contains some wonderful master pieces. This is one of them.
