Steve Harley is 70 years old this week.
He was born Steven Nice in Deptford, south London and from the age of nine, he took classical violin lessons. After leavng school, he fulfilled his ambition of being an accountant which he did with the Daily Express, but soon reaslised it wasn’t as exciting as he thought and turned to music.
He formed the Cockney Rebel in 1972 and three years later had their first UK hit with Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) which went to number one.
