Songs that were originally on the B side

To the majority of the younger generation, if you talked about the B side of a record they would have no idea what you were talking about. It’s now, sadly, a bygone era. Back in the days of good old vinyl when record companies thought they knew best they often issued a song as an A side, only to find out that the B side was to become more popular in the end. Very often it was because radio DJs used to flip it over and play the B side. Here is a list of 20 songs that were originally relegated to the under-side but eventually charted in their own right. In some cases they were listed on the chart as a ‘double’ A side but more often than not the original A side was the least played if at all. The only exception in this list is the last one which was a number one hit, but, again, radio got fed up with the A side and began playing the B side thus prompting the public to go out and buy it again not realising they probably already had it. It was so successful that the original disc went back up to number two because of the B side.
