of the week

Olly Murs is 40 this week.

He was born in Witham, Essex and was a keen footballer even playing semi-professionally for Isthmian Division One North side Witham Town between 2006 and 2008.

He then took a job working for Kitchens Direct as well as playing in a covers band called Small Town Blaggers. In 2007, he was a contestant on Noel Edmonds game (of luck) show Deal or No Deal where he won a mammoth £10.

Two years later he auditioned for the X-Factor and ended up second to Joe McElderry. Where is Joe now we wonder! As one of the most successful contestants ever from the show, he went on to have 21 UK hits (so far) including four number ones.

He has also done some radio presenting on Radio 1 and Heart FM.

Let’s remember one of this best song, a number five hit from 2013.
