Anniversary of 9/11

This week marks the 17th anniversary of 9/11 – the tragic days when everyone remembers where they were when they heard the news. Within hours of the tragedy Clear Channel who owned a majority of the radio stations around America issued a memo listing 165 songs that were deemed unsuitable and suggested they were NOT to be played but it was not a demand. Bizarrely, some versions of songs were banned and others weren’t eg. both Bob Dylan and Guns ‘N Roses’ version of Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door were banned, but Doctor My Eyes by Jackson Browne was banned yet the Jackson 5 version wasn’t and likewise for Alien Ant Farm’s version of Smooth Criminal which was barred but the Jacko version was ok. Anyway here is an alphabetical list.
