This week Prince would have been 60.
There isn’t much to add to what people already know about Prince, so a short insight into my favourite Prince single Sign O’ The Times from 1987. The title comes from a religious magazine called Signs of the Times, a faith his parents belonged to and one that tries to encourage its readers to lead Christian lives whilst awaiting the return of Jesus.
Prince wrote this song on a Sunday, like he did most of his songs – another religious hint. It’s a very dark song highlighting the problems with drugs and AIDS in American at the times under Ronald Regan’s Presidency.
It was the lead single from the album of the same name and reached number 10 in the UK and number three in the States.
Let’s remember it and him.
