Heart number ones

It was this week in 1967 that Dr Christiaan Barnard performed the world’s first human-to-human heart transplant. With full permission from the family, Dr Barnard took the heart from a man who had died of a head injury and transplanted it into Louis Washkansky. Washkansky, who was 54, regained full consciousness and lived with his new heart for 18 days.
Coincidentally, the song that was at number one in the UK was Long John Baldry’s Let The Heartaches Begin.
