This week Andy Williams, or the Emperor of Easy, as he became known, would have celebrated his 90th birthday. I was lucky enough to see him at the Royal Festival Hall in 2001 and enjoyed a great show. He recalled how he’d forgotten all about Music To Watch Girls By as he hadn’t sung it since the late sixties and it was only after he received a phone call from the UK telling his song had been used in an advert and was back in the chart that he had to re-learn it.
Sadly he died just over five years ago just a few weeks short of his 85th birthday. Here he is with two other crooner, Eddie Fisher and Bobby Darin doing a brilliant number from the Sound of Music.
